Our Mission:The International Academy for Preventive Medicine believes that a society may judge its success by analyzing the maintenance, migration, promotion and enhancement of the physical and mental health of its citizens, as well as the quality of its environment. The Academy exists, therefore, to promote, disseminate, and cultivate knowledge and information concerning preventive medicine, health promotion and environmental studies. These fields encompass not only organized medicine as it is viewed by the general public but also include diet, nutrition, fitness, wellness, mental health and individual responsibility as key elements of an enriched quality of life. The Academy, in addition, supports a variety of ecological projects in the belief that all living systems are interdependent for their survival. Background:The Academy is a non-profit organization exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Internal Revenue Service does not consider the Academy a private foundation. The Academy was founded by the late Dr. Murdock Head, a Renaissance man who was a physician, surgeon, lawyer, teacher and author. The Academy was organized on August 28, 1985, under the laws of the State of Delaware, and reflects his vision. Principal Office:The IAPM is located in Virginia’s hunt country on one thousand unspoiled acres of nature trails and footpaths, indigenous trees and wildflower fields, rolling hills, ponds, lakes and tumbling waterfalls.
